Life Prior to Awakening
– His childhood was surprisingly trauma-free and he had supportive parents who nurtured his interest in becoming a doctor. He was particularly
close to his maternal grandfather (who was a doctor). He did reasonably well at school, perhaps not quite as well as might be expected for medical school students, but his grandfather's reputation swung things and helped him get in.
– There he met his future wife, Susan, though they didn't get together as a couple until after they both graduated. Susan wasn't technically a medical student, she was studying a genetics and they shared some of the same classes.
– Upon graduating he decided that rather than take up his grandfather's offer of joining his practice (his grandfather was planning on retiring soon), he became a paramedic. This decision was respected by his family, but there was an element of disappointment. He justifies his decision on the grounds that accepting the offer would have been a continuation of his benefiting from his grandfather's name; he'd rather make a name for himself instead.
The Awakening
– His Awakening occurred at the end of an especially stressful shift, in which he and his colleague had been threatened at knife-point by the person that they were trying to help. After the shift, as he was making his way home just before dawn, the train he was on pulled into a station that he had never seen before. A sepulchral voice announced that the train was terminating, forcing him to disembark onto the platform of a station that resembled Kings Cross after a Gothic makeover. Here he signed his name (in a large book on a dais on the main concourse) and became a Moros. Afterwards he was directed to another train, this one taking him to his usual stop near his home.
– He identifies most closely with the Arcanum of Matter, and his understanding of the other Arcana is filtered through this; he essentially sees the concepts that the other Arcana influence as being more subtle forms of matter. The specifics are in the paradigm sheet, the only real addition being that I'm going to specify that he has to learn the Arcana in a set order.
– During the early days post-Awakening more of his memories of his time in Stygia came back to him; he came to recall that there was a general sense of unrest there, and that the shades that inhabit that realm were concerned that an event of great significance was coming. This led to his research into divination via the words of the dead (based on a medieval belief that the dead can see the future), and his parallel research into the theories of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin – specifically the Omega Point.
– Basically rather than time being a series of events progressing forwards with the past ones building up like layers of sediment and pushing the present forwards, there is an event in the future that is exerting some kind of temporal gravity and pulling the present towards it. My character believes that it will be the end of the material universe as we understand it – this may not be a totally bad thing as it might lead to a better existence in some other form, but since his magic is so Matter-oriented he fears that it will lead to the end of his career as a mage.
Life After Awakening
– His tuition in the arcane has focused primarily on the Tree of Life, albeit filtered through his own mechanical bias. His magical style consists of using the substances associated with the various Arcana to sympathetically trigger the events that he desires. For quick rituals he uses his magical tools alone, but for extended rituals he uses the concept of planetary hours as well; beginning his ritual in the relevant hour.
– He also tries to blend his magical teachings with his medical training to some extent, leading to him having equal ratings in both Life and Death (this might be something that I'll try and maintain – so if he raises one with xp he has to raise the other at the same time). He tells Susan that he is working additional shifts – and this is kind of true, expect that he is actually either studying magical lore or hanging out with his recently post-dead cousin. Susan has no idea that he is a mage; he's not sure how to tell her.
– As a favour to a fellow member of the Mysterium, an Acanthus known as Rowena, he created a soul stone for him. The agreed payment was that he would keep the stone until all three favours had been granted, the the soul stone would become the property of Rowena to use as he wished. He used the first favour to acquire Hecate's Lens.

Explanations of Sheet– His virtue of justice represents both the values instilled in him as a result of his upbringing, and also his focus on mechanical principles (for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, etc.).
– His vice of greed represents both his attachment to the lifestyle he grew accustomed to growing up, and also his focus on matter as being paramount in the grand scheme of things; he has a tendency to mistake the acquisition of objects with safety and prestige.
– His contacts are colleagues at the local hospital, fellow members of the Mysterium, and the university he went to (he still keeps in touch with some of the staff).
– His mentor is a mortician who works at the hospital and dispenses Quincy-esque advice about the deceased that Jennifer introduces him to.
– His resources come from his salary, his wife's and their combined savings.
