Re: Geist - Jennifer
We go in. I use my sight on anyone inside and just across the inside of the church, in case there's any strange death energies.

Eric cautiously enters the courtyard of the church and strolls over to you, trying to look nonchalant. Not looking in your direction, but pretending to inspect some flowers, he coughs discretely to alert youto his presence.
Re: Geist - Jennifer
The church does seem to be slightly free of the images of death. One of the worshippers inside is praying and the act seems to momentarilly reduce the effect.
Re: Geist - Jennifer
Ah, okay. I linger near the entrance for a moment, and then, once we've ventured inside do the above. Before we do though I'll ask Eric whether he's found anything out, about wasps or whatever those cryptric notes were about.

Re: Geist - Jennifer
"Nothing conclusive about the notes, though my associates have copies. The hornets are a newly discovered species, and their venom apparently causes memory loss, which could explain some of the references in the first note."
He looks around to make sure that you are still alone.
"This Order of the Rebirth sounds very suspicious. Apparently they were some kind of medieval heresy."

Re: Geist - Jennifer
"And did someone just rediscover this... 'heresy'? Or has it been some sort of secret society going back through the centuries?" Jennifer's mind boggles a bit at the idea, but given what she saw previously that idea is only a brief surprise.

"I'm not sure."
He gestures to the church, with a grim smile.
"Maybe we should go and ask them?"

In we go.
Using the death sight as mentioned above I note that the person praying seems to be slightly dispelling the aura of doom (is that correct?)
I look around at the iconography, making sure it doesn't look 'heretical', and then join Eric looking for someone who might be in charge.

[pretty much, yes]
It looks like a normal Catholic church - lots of carvings and statues of Christ and Mary. There is a notice board nearby detailing local events. The altar is large but nornal in appearance.

Re: Geist - Jennifer
I gravitate towards the board as I look around. It seems the likely place to look for indications of some sort of group activity, but I want toi make sure I keep my eyes open and make my way around the church slowly. Respectfully.

It is covered in flyers for coffee mornings, health classes and after-school events.

Your eyes are drawn to a small article from the local paper. It is about the church and how attendences are up during mass. The photo shows the priest and a beaming Afro-Carribean man. The caption identifies him as Austin Kittrell
Re: Geist - Jennifer
I indicate the newspaper clipping to Eric.

Re: Geist - Jennifer
He sees it the same time you do. He indicates the priest in the back of the church and another part of the article that makes a vague reference to "personal difficulties in Austin's life".
Eric defly takes the clipping

Re: Geist - Jennifer
Eric looks at the praying woman and suggests to you (via gestures) that that he can see a glow coming from her
Re: Geist - Jennifer
I focus on the vicar, slipping the death sight on again, whilst asking Eric what we should do... "Do we want to speak with him, or do you want to poke around a bit more, or try to join one of these popular Masses to see what's going on?"

I glance at the woman and nod (to Eric).

Re: Geist - Jennifer
"Maybe we should join in with a mass if one is about to start soon, then we can talk to the priest afterwards?"
Re: Geist - Jennifer
Jennifer nods again. "Yes. I'd be interested to hear the details of this mass, especially considering the gifts my own experiences have left me with."

Re: Geist - Jennifer
Eric suggests to you that there might be another line of investigation to consider. One that would take about 30 minutes and require us to nip outside.
Oh, and for you to channel the spirits of the dead...

Re: Geist - Jennifer
Aha! Okay. I'll wander outside.
The actual method of allowing the dead to speak through me requires a ceremony through which a ghost talks to someone else. Which in this case would be Eric.
I explain that to Eric [and I'm just fetching the book to check details]

Re: Geist - Jennifer
[at this point, your Geist starts to make a noise like happy babbling. It's clearly happy being here]
Re: Geist - Jennifer
[Heh! It appears that it requires a ghost that wants to speak to the living]
Jennifer looks around the graveyard to see if there are any ghosts who might have something to say. They will be able to speak through Jennifer as a conduit [if I roll well] but, if Eric is to look at her whilst she performs the ritual, the voice will be lost, as if on a distant wind. So he'll have to close his eyes (or else it'll have to be performed in a very dark place).
