Geist - Jennifer

[There's two very old graves nearby but no ghosts attached. Your geist now appears to have a mottled colouring that shifts slightly as if there was something beneath it]

"That's no problem, my dear," says Eric. "If you'd be so kind as to attach this to your forehead before the ritual- er... ceremony commences, I'd be much obliged."

From his coat pocket he extracts a silk-wrapped bundle. He opens it to reveal an ornate brass object that resembles a large monocle. It's edges are etched with strange symbols and the glass is tinted slightly so as to give everything seen through it a mildly distorted appearance.

He pulls a leather harness from his other pocket and gestures for you to strap it around your head...

Jennifer obliges. He's the expert, after all.

"Right then, in your own time. If you can signal when you are ready I'll start asking the ghost questions."

[a small ghost is present]

I speak to the ghost...

"Erm... hello? Hello spirit? Do you have something to tell us?"

I glance at Eric, to see if he's hearing this. If he shows no signs of having heard the small boy, I say "It's a young boy. He's being drawn into oblivion. He's asking what we seek."

[more people are starting to turn up now. A expensive-looking sedan pulls out. The door opens and out steps Austin...followed by a very heavilly pregnant woman. She has dark skin like Austin's with short hair. She seems a little embarrassed to be here. Roll Intelligence + Medicine, diff 7]

I repeat what the spirit has said, and report that the ghost has dissipated. And I quickly try to take all this apparatus off before someone sees us.

Eric hastily removes the Lens from your head, seemingly more concerned with keeping the artefact safe than he is with not scalping your skin. Re-wrapping the lens in its cloth, he prepares to slip into the church as discretely as possible.

The church is now filling up with people wearing a lot of white: white shirts, white suit jackets. The man who arrived with her is standing to her side with the priest. The three of them have now changed into white, hooded robes. It is clear the ceremony is about to begin.

Eric directs you to seats by the exit and asks if the robes are like those you saw in your vision.

I confirm that they are. Can I see the lady that seemed to ahve the holy aura about her?

A great cheer goes up.

"After this gathering - our 4th congress - my sister will return home to prepare for the birth. The glory of God is at hand."

Does he indicate anyone (or glance in the direction of, say, the pregnant lady) when he mentions his sister?

Also I'm looking for ghosts whilse I'm here, and any flow of death energy...

The energy being put out by these people appears to be keeping the death and sickness at bay - in fact these are the first healthy people you have seen in days. He is referring to the pregnant woman.

"Can you see the positive energy in these people?" I whisper to Eric. I'm wondering if they're actually the people we want on our side, or whether their power is something that is going to be perverted further done the line to project the spiritual disease somehow.

I'm trying to see what my Geist is up to too - whether it's gurgling along nicely or reacting to anything/anyone in the room.

Your Geist is very quiet and almost absent - or at least happy to sit back. It certainly has a content glow comming from it.

From outside, you hear a commotion, shouting and banging - the sounds of a scuffle. The doors swing open and in storms two men dressed in ordinary clothes and struggling with two suited guards.

One of the men has a knife and is screaming "They must die! The child must die!"

I prepare to stand up and react if I have to, without putting myself in immediate danger, but I want to see how everyone else is reacting - whether anyone knows these men.
